Interview with Giridhar Udupa, Ghatam Player

The ghatam is a percussion instrument like no other with a unique, musical beat, subtle and unobtrusive, each part of its surface with a separate tonal quality. Along with the tambura, it is probably responsible for investing a Carnatic rendering with its distinctive aural quality, rooting it in a specific shruthi and a melodic beat.
